JIM TRAINER'S POEM OF THE WEEK, Waiting For Simon
More grief and madness than a lifetime can hold...
WAITING FOR SIMON
up with the BBC in the pre-dawn
and there when NPR goes live
On The Media no palette-cleanser
for the odious voice of Henry Kissinger,
a hissing dark steam in the blue morning
I listen for Scott, he's our man and he's
been with me Saturdays
when most are sleeping-in or brunching
I'm at the desk
broadcasting my own pap and rage
what a gig! reporting on the slow curtain-roll
more and more blood
more grief and madness
than a lifetime can hold,
it's enough to break your heart
and so I write about that
I write these words for you,
always Reader
my heart breaks for you,
the fuck have you done?
