JIM TRAINER’S POEM OF THE WEEK
MANUMIT LULLABY
bells at dusk
the day is defeated
last of the sun awash
hidden is the Poorwill singing
beside the block
I.D. and “Sorry”
boom hitch my ferry
ground-out white Dunhill butt
of everything there
wasn’t much
a high tide of love
the hard break on the bluff
now a night to tumble
roll and rumble through
never easy, never free
never now completely
